Laurel is a writer, layout designer, and artist from Illinois. She has dual degrees from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Theater & Dance (BS)—specializing in Theater History / Literature / Criticism—and English (BA), with a minor in Creative Writing.
From 2011 – 2016, she lived in a small coastal city named Minamishimabara (南島原市) in Nagasaki Prefecture (長崎県), as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) of English selected through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET).
