I can’t remember how exactly I heard about Alice’s Tea Cup, but however I learned about it, I’m glad I did. I’m always keen for scones and tea.
Alice’s Tea Cup, like its name suggests, is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The shop is filled with quotes from and artwork inspired by the novel as well as memorabilia.
Alice’s Tea Cup actually has two locations, referred to as chapters. I went to Chapter i, their original location.
As a heads up, know that before being seated, the host will ask if you’d like to be sprinkled with fairy dust. This made the day of a little girl in a family of 3 seated before me, once her mom went first of course (kids also get the option of donning fairy wings, if they’d like). The host, not wanting me to feel left out of the magic, inquired if I’d like any fairy dust when it was my turn to be seated. I, who greatly dislikes glitter with a fiery passion, politely declined.
Once seated, I decided to go for Alice’s pot of tea plus 2 scones set. For tea, after a lot internal debate, went with Alice’s Tea—their popular house blend made of Indian black tea, Japanese green tea, vanilla, and rose petals. In terms of scones, I chose: one ham and cheese; one caramel glazed pumpkin.
Everything was really lovely. Alice’s Tea is a great blend of flavors. The scones, along with the accompanying dish of cream and jam, far surpassed my expectations.
The only thing that took me out of truly enjoying my late breakfast was a couple, seated at the table beside me, having a spat. I was trying not listen, going so far as getting out my iPod while I took notes in my Passion Planner, but it was definitely bizarre. It came down to one quibbling over what the other one ordered, telling them they always order things that don’t make them happy. I don’t know… it felt like the tip of the iceberg to more deep-seeded problems. On the plus side, it helped me reconfirm my happiness in being single.
Anyway… if you’re a fan of scones and tea, Alice’s Tea Cup should be on your list. It’s great for friends and families alike.
