NYC Eats: Magnolia Bakery

Magnolia Bakery was on my list of eateries to check out. Their branch on Avenue of the Americas near Rockefeller Plaza was also one of the busiest places I visited in New York. Figuring out ordering and payment was a little daunting due to the high volume of tourists also trying to figure out the system or just kind of milling around and not actually intending to purchase anything.

Once I got squared away, I ordered a cappuccino along with a small cup of their famous banana pudding and a hummingbird cupcake. Their ingredients were as follows:

  • Banana pudding – vanilla pudding with vanilla wafers and fresh bananas
  • Hummingbird cupcake – banana, pineapple and pecan cake; sweet cream cheese icing topped with toasted pecans

Afterwards, I headed to a nearby park to enjoy my cappuccino and banana pudding as a late afternoon snack. I regretted not being able to stop by again to pick up another pudding cup before I left NYC. Good news: I found out there’s a branch in Chicago, so hopefully I can check that one out sometime in the future.
