Sir Tom Stoppard is a knighted British playwright and screenwriter, who was born in Czechoslovakia. Night and Day was a play, which premiered in 1978. Stoppard’s other notable works include:
- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (play, 1966) – playwright
- Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (film, 1990) – writer, director
- Shakespeare in Love (film, 1998) – co-writer
- Tulip Fever (film, 2017) – co-writer
This quote can be found along Library Way, a stretch of East 41st Street, which leads to the New York Public Library. The plaque was sculpted by Gregg LeFevre.
